KASSON — The Austin Packers boys hockey team got off to a fast start Thursday night with a goal in the opening nine seconds of the game against the Dodge County Wildcats.
Devon McCune scored the first goal of the night for the Packers inside the initial 10 seconds. The Wildcats came back with a goal just seconds later and went on to record a 7-3 win.
This was a high-scoring game in the first period. The combination of McCune and Ethan Larson took care of the scoring on the night for the visiting Packers.
McCune scored a power play goal with 10:22 left in the first period and the Packers were back on top. Larson had the assist on the first two goals for Austin.
After the Wildcats once again tied the game, the Packers regained the lead with a goal from Larson. The Packers led 3-2 after the first period, but that was it for their offense.
