Packers defense has tough second period

The Austin High boys hockey team lost 10-4 to Winona on Tuesday night at Riverside Arena.

This was a close game after the first period with the visiting Winona Winhawks leading 2-1. Josh Hart, with assists from Marcus Stoulil and Devin McCune, scored at the 4:16 mark to give the Packers the early lead.

Winona came back with a short-handed goal to tie the game in the first period. The visitors then got a power play goal late in the first period to take the lead.

Scoring a total of eight goals in the second period, the Winhawks broke the game open. Thomas Lueck led the way with four goals in the road win.

Still, the Packers didn't quit and they scored three goals in the third period. Stoulil scored at just 27 seconds into the final period.

Stoulil then scored his second goal only a couple of minutes later. Tyler Stevens scored the last goal of the night for the Packers off a penalty shot.

Austin (4-18-0) plays Mankato West at home in a Big Nine Conference game Thursday night.
