HAYFIELD — The Austin Packers lost all three games to the Hayfield Vikings in Thursday night's non-conference volleyball match.
Despite getting swept in the match, the Austin girls played competitively and the scores were close in each game. The visitors scored 19 points in the first game, then 16 points in the second game, and things were a lot tighter in the third game.
Just like in their season opener last week, the Packers started to communicate better in the third game. This led to more points and the Packers held the lead midway through the third game.
Alex Hansen led the Packers in kills on the night and her play at the net helped them take the lead. Back came the Vikings with a long point run and they held off the Packers for a 25-21 win. Dani Wagner led the Hayfield attack with 11 kills.
Austin (0-2 overall) returns home to the Packer Gym on Tuesday night for a non-conference match against Blooming Prairie.
