The Austin High boys track and field team is scheduled to open the season tonight with an indoor meet at Minnesota State University in Mankato.
Although the Packers lost many top runners to graduation after last season, there is still a good crop of returning runners this season. The field events should also be a strong suit for the Packers.
Thomas "Tank" Herrera is a senior for the Packers. Herrera will be the top thrower for the Packers in the field events.
Zach Fadness, a senior, is one of the top returning long distance runners. Max Galen was part of the state relay teams the last couple of years and returns for his senior season.
Austin coach Tony Einertson has a total of seven seniors coming back, plus a solid group of juniors on the team. Jon Ramirez-Hernandez, Nick Downey, Cole Adams, and Andrew Wangan are the other returning seniors for the Packers.
