MINNEAPOLIS — Perham won its eighth straight Class A State Girls Gymnastics title Friday night at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion with 146.025 points, outdistancing Becker, which finished second with 144.475.
Section One champion Pine Island was seventh with 136.800 points. The Panthers were making their fifth state appearance in six years. They finished second in 2007, their highest finish at state.
Top scores for Pine Island were floor exercise, Chelsie Glabe (9.200), balance beam, Brittany Schmidt (8.925), uneven bars, Glage (8.375) and vault, Schmidt (8.975).
Perham returned with six gymnasts who competed in the state meet last year.
The individual portion of the meet is today.
