RCTC wins invitational

FERGUS FALLS — Rochester Community and Technical College won four straight matches to capture the Fergus Falls Invitational in junior college volleyball on Saturday.

RCTC won three straight matches in pool play to advance to the title game against Mesabi Range. In the finals, the Yellowjackets won 25-18, 25-18. In pool play RCTC beat Hibbing 25-15, 25-9, Itasca 12-25, 25-20, 15-12 and Rainy River 25-12, 25-9.

RCTC stat leaders were Kristie Tessmer with 73 set assists, Rochester's Kat Kuecker with 29 kills, LeRoy-Ostrander's Kylie Grant with 26 digs and Aly Bremer with nine blocks.


"I am ecstatic about the results this weekend," RCTC coach Carolyn Bell said. "This team is certainly going to go far this season due to its relentless energy on the court, relentless pursuit of each point, and overall a phenomenal work ethic. To top it off, we have very physically talented players that made very athletic plays over and over."

The Yellowjackets (4-0) will play at Minnesota West in Worthington at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday .
