RCTC's Lane Gehl battles with Central Lakes Betsy Helmeke for a loose ball during first half action Wednesday at the Regional Sports Center Performance Court.

The Rochester Community and Technical College women's basketball team turned in a terrific second half and downed Central Lakes 61-46 on Wednesday.

The Yellowjackets trailed 29-28 at halftime.

"We just played with more intensity and more heart in the second half," RCTC coach Steve Hucke said.

The Yellowjackets got a strong game from Brittni Mayer with 15 points, six rebounds, and a pair of three-pointers. Aly Meyer added 11 points and 13 rebounds, Desirae Lee had 10 points and Cortney Kasten added seven big offensive rebounds.

RCTC did a much better job of taking care of the basketball, with 17 turnovers. That included just four in the second half. Central Lakes had 24 turnovers.

RCTC was also much better from the free-throw line than it had been recently. It made 12 of 19 attempts.

RCTC is 3-5 in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and 13-9 overall.
