EYOTA — Early run production and then scoring four more in the top of the seventh gave the Southland softball team a 14-9 win over Dover-Eyota on Thursday.
The visiting Southland Rebels were ahead 10-9 going into the top of the 7th inning and then they added four insurance runs. The D-E Eagles put runners in scoring position during five of the seven innings, but didn't get enough runs to stay with the Rebels.
Kelli Smith started and went the distance on the mound to get the road win for the Rebels. She also had a triple and scored three runs. Haley Kirkpatrick had three hits for the Rebels in the Three Rivers Conference game.
Southland (3-3 overall, 3-1 TRC) plays in the Rochester Lourdes Tournament on Saturday.
