ADAMS — The Southland Rebels girls basketball team built a big lead Tuesday night and then had to withstand a late rally from the visiting Dover-Eyota Eagles.
With four players in double figures and a total of nine scoring on the night, the Rebels used their overall balance for an 82-72 win.
Still, it wasn't easy for the Rebels in this Three Rivers Conference game. D-E (13-10 overall, 10-7 TRC) was led by Sarah Pease with a game-high 30 points. The sophomore guard hit a pair of treys along the comeback trail.
"With 10 minutes to go in the second half, we were up by 28 points and playing well," Southland coach Bob Sheehan said. "Then all of the sudden they got hot and we started forcing a few shots.
They went on a big run and cut our lead to eight with 2:30 to go, then held on with free throws. It was a nice conference win in front of home fans."
