The Rochester Redhawks rode a strong and marathon pitching outing by Sam Hinsch as they slid past the Rochester Patriots 7-6 in 13 innings Sunday in First District American Legion baseball.
The game was the continuation of a contest that had been suspended by rain on Wednesday. Hinsch pitched all 13 innings.
The Redhawks finished with 15 hits, the Patriots 13. The Redhawks were led at the plate by Christian Rosenow and Sam Hinsch, each with three hits. Kaeleb Stangler also had three hits for the Patriots.
The Redhawks notched two runs in first, fourth and sixth innings. The young team was perfect in the field, with no errors. The Patriots had three.
The teams will play each other again today (5 p.m., at John Adams), with seedings for this week's First District tournament being affected. The Patriots will either be the third or fourth seed, depending on whether they win. The Redhawks will either be the fifth or sixth seed.
