Roadrunners win twice

The Rochester Roadrunners picked up a pair of wins over the weekend in amateur baseball, beating the home team Austin Blue Sox 10-4 on Saturday and the visiting Plainview Bucks 4-3 on Sunday.

The Roadrunners, now 8-9-1 overall and 7-6 in the Twin Rivers, jumped on the Blue Sox early, grabbing a 3-0 first-inning lead. The big blow was a two-run double by Henry Rownd.

Rochester broke the game open in the eighth inning, using singles by Matt Pearson, Matt Kosel and Rownd to help score five runs. Two Austin errors also contributed to that total.

David Dahlstrom pitched eight strong innings for the Roadrunners. Pearson totaled three hits.

Against the Bucks, it was a Rochester rally that provided the win. The Roadrunners trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when they scored twice. They added two more tallies in the sixth for the winning margin.

Mike Vance, Mike Hohberger and Kosel all had singles in the fifth.

Rownd got the pitching win, throwing seven innings and allowing no earned runs while striking out nine.
