CENTURY BOYS
Head coach: Andy Roth, second year. Assistant coach:Bud Alcorn. 2010 record:6-8.
Season outloook:The team is mostly seniors and juniors, so Roth expects leadership and chemistry. He also notes the defense all had a lot of playing time last year and the Panthers return two of the top attackers from a year ago, including leading scorer Jake Acker (35 goals).
Other key returning players are captain Brett Applegarth, junior middle Brian Christenson (10 goals and a team-leading nine assists) and senior goalie Ben Hain. Replacements must be found at middie, including faceoff.
Coach's comment:"If we play with strong discipline and work hard we should have a strong season, and we look to improve on our record from last year.."

CENTURY GIRLS
Head coach:Scott Swenson, first year. Assistant coach:Jessica Kiner, second year. 2010 record:0-13.
Season outlook:The team’s biggest strength this year will be depth, Swenson said. The team is nicely balanced with seven seniors, nine juniors, nine sophomores, eight freshmen, 10 eighth-graders, and three seventh-graders. Of those, 26 are retuning players and 20 new players, "which makes for a bright future," Swenson said.
Key returning players are the three captains Brittany Cords, Julianne Klampe, and Morgan Heminger.
Coach's comment:"We are thrilled to see the increased level of interest in girls high school lacrosse. The team shows a lot of promise this year. We have good team speed and athleticism and we need to use this to our advantage. This year we feel we will be more competitive in conference play and have great potential to go to sections and win our first section playoff game."

MAYO BOYS
Head coach: Robert Cane, second year. Assistant coaches:Tom Patterson, Eric Gonzalez,
Abe Allen, Alex Heroff, Marcus Nigbur. 2010 record:9-4.
Season outloook:Cain says team strengths include a strong group of returning seniors led by captains Hagedorn, Rengstorf, and Jehnke; one of the top face off middies (Patterson) and one of the top goalies (Flick) in the state (both juniors), and team chemistry.
Question marks are defensive depth and the transition game, plus adjustment to a new coach.
Coach's comment:"We have a shot at winning our section. Mayo is looking to put Rochester on the lacrosse map this year with a tough schedule. Eagan, who eliminated Mayo from the section playoffs in 2010, will be our first of eight away games as the Spartans look to take revenge. We are looking at a 9- to 11-win regular season. After earning our first-ever section playoff win against Owatonna, the Spartans are looking to build on last year's success with a few more playoff wins."

MAYO GIRLS
Head coach:Gary Tschann, second year. Assistant coaches:Jeanette Lorang Kiner, second year. 2010 record:6-7.
Season outlook:Third-year player and two-time letterwinner senior Lillian Lorang anchors the defense. In goal, Rebbeca Graham had an outstanding 2010 season and has already shown improvement this year, Tschann said. Returning middies Miranda Halling, Allie Branch, Lauren Ulsh and Samantha Carlson should give a strong offensive punch. Only five starters return, so there are a lot of spots to fill.
Coach's quote:"The team is made up of athletic and intelligent girls eager to learn the game of lacrosse. Lauren Ulsh and Samantha Carlson should give us a strong offensive punch. Our schedule starts out playing some very strong teams and I hope what we learn early in the season will make us strong contenders at the end of the season."
