Rockets skate to tie against West
The Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes girls hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie against Mankato West in Big Nine Conference action Tuesday night.
The Rockets trailed 3-0 after the opening period, but the rallied for one goal in the second and two in the third.
Katy Kvasnicka scored all three goals for the Scarlets.
"Even in falling behind 3-0 in the first, I thought we played well," JM/Lourdes coach Steve Russell said. "We continued playing well and the game eventually came back to us."
Sam Macken had a pair of goals for the Rockets. Marissa Bruesewitz scored the other tally. Bruesewitz and Laura Fisher had one assist apiece.
The Rockets outshot West 42-25. JM/Lourdes goalie Erin Meyer finished with 22 saves.
"As expected, the girls played much better in front of Erin Meyer," Russell said "The entire team played well, even though it was the line of Bruesewitz, Macken and Savannah Seeger accounting for all of the scoring."
The Rockets return to action at 5:30 p.m. Friday at home against Highland Park.
