The Rochester Royals and New Market Section 1B amateur baseball game will go to a second day.

The two teams were tied at 2-2 after seven innings on Friday night when heavy rains hit Hudson Field in the section elimination game. The game was suspended and was set to be finished on Saturday in Rochester at Mayo Field. But the time of the game had yet to be determined late Friday night as both teams were scrambling to make sure they would have enough players on hand. Times of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. were both being debated by the two sides.

The Royals were missing several players on Friday night who were at a wedding in Nebraska. The Royals were set to have several more players leave on Saturday.

The Royals held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the game on Friday. Michael Michalak started the bottom of the first with a home run for the Royals for a quick lead.

Nate Rost hit an RBI single off of Mitch Brown in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1.

The Royals reclaimed the lead when Alex Prindle sliced an opposite-field double into the left-field corner with two outs in the fourth inning.

New Market tied the game in the seventh without the benefit of a hit. An infield error, a walk and a hit batsman loaded the bases and then Brown walked Nick Rost to force in the tying run with two outs.

The Royals had a chance to take the lead in the bottom of the seventh just before the rain hit. Tim Oesterlin and Jake Halverson opened the inning with singles, but New Market right-hander Luke Cremmins then retired three straight to halt the threat.

Brown allowed just four hits in seven innings, but he issued seven walks and hit three batters and had to pitch out of several jams. He struck out nine, including the side in both the second and sixth innings.

The Royals (11-9) had eight hits, including two each by Hayden Brown and Jared Campbell.

The winner of the game will advance to the elimination title game at Miesville at 2 p.m. Sunday, and the winner of that game will be the fourth Class B state qualifier from Section 1B.
