David Schotanus, who was a senior this past fall on the Southland Rebels football team, has been selected as a starter for the upcoming Minnesota High School All-Star Game.
This event takes place on June 26 and will be held at St. Cloud State University. This is an annual game featuring the top high school talent in the state.
Schotanus played mainly along the front line for the Rebels this past season due to his impressive physical stature. He also saw some time at the fullback spot and that might very well be his position when he moves on to the college level.
"David is going to Rochester Community and Technical College next fall and play for the Yellowjackets," Southland coach Shawn Kennedy said of his former star. "I think he will do very well at RCTC. Their coach Brad LaPlante has a similiar coaching style like mine and David will feel comfortable with him."
Anchoring the line, Schotanus helped the Rebels to a 8-2 overall record last fall.

Southland had a great season on the gridiron during his final campaign. Their only losses came to Caledonia, the 2008 state champs, and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, the 2009 state champs.
