NEW RICHLAND — With a few key runners out of the lineup, the Austin Pacelli boys and girls cross country teams were both incomplete at the NRHEG Invitational.
Blooming Prairie won the boys meet at the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Invitational. Maple River was the runner-up on Tuesday.
The individual winner for the boys was Alex Cooling of Madelia-Truman with a time of 17:28.
Drew Chapek led the way for the Pacelli Shamrocks with a time of 20:47, Jonathon Koppa ran 20:53, and Stephen Juenger had a 21:10. Kevin Juenger of Pacelli finished with a time of 15:55 in the junior varsity race.
"It seems that some form of the cold and flu bug has hit our team pretty hard in the past week and we were missing two members of our team, while others ran at less than 100-percent healthy," Pacelli coach Jim Parlin said. "Given those obstacles, I felt we competed pretty well. In the boys action, we had just three who were able to run in the varsity race."

On the girls side of the race, the individual winner was Megan Henrickson of Mankato Loyola with a time of 16:34. Pacelli results included Madeline Kraemer at 18:28, Sarah Kahle ran 18:43, and Annie Holtz came in with a time of 19:03.
"In the girls varsity race, we had all four of our girls running but all are trying to recover from the flu bug that has hit our team," coach Parlin said. "Katherine Ethen was our fourth runner coming in at 21:41. We are off until next week and I'm hoping we will be able to get everybody healthy by then."
Pacelli boys and girls cross country teams run next Tuesday at the Blooming Prairie Invitational.
