MASON CITY, Iowa — Rochester Community and Technical College put together a very good second half, but it wasn't quite enough.
The Yellowjackets fell to North Iowa Area Community College in a women's basketball game on Tuesday, 60-51.
RCTC trailed 38-24 at halftime, but cut down its turnovers and outscored NIACC, 27-22, in the second half. The Yellowjackets committed 26 turnovers in the game, but just 10 after halftime.
"We did a lot better job in the second half," RCTC coach Steve Hucke said. "We just got off to a horrible start and they hit some shots. We outscored them in the second half, when the kids settled in."
RCTC was led by sophomore Aly Meyer and freshman Lane Gehl, who each scored 10 points. Sophomore guard Megan Flemming had a nice defensive game, grabbing 11 rebounds, including 10 on the defensive end. Jacey Anderson added six assists and Cortney Kasten had four steals.
