STRONG FINISH CARRIES CENTURY
It took a while, but once Century started scoring goals it didn't slow down on Tuesday in a 4-2 win over Northfield in Big Nine Conference girls soccer.
The game was scoreless until Jordan Nowicki took a pass from Collette Barry 30 minutes into the game. Nowicki then dribbled past defenders and slipped the ball past the outstretched arm of the Northfield goalie.
Mckenna Baker scored a pair of goals for Century in the second half to give the Panthers leads of 2-0 and 3-1.
Northfield cut the gap to 3-2 in the second half before Addie Clarey scored the clinching goal off an assist by Nora Will. Clarey and Nowicki both finished with a goal and an assist.
Century goalie Kate Kopp collected four saves.
"Northfield was physical and we matched their physical play," Century coach Karen LaDue said. "We are finding balance on the team. Everyone is contributing when on the field. As a team, we are playing well.

RED WING SLIPS PAST JM
RED WING — Jordan Clark came up with 17 saves, but it wasn't enough as Red Wing knocked off John Marshall 2-1 in Big Nine Conference girls soccer.
Red Wing got both of its goals in the first half. JM got its only score after intermission.
Sammi Chandler and Kayla Radtke each had goals for Red Wing.

LOURDES BLANKS KOMETS
KASSON –– Amelia Gossman exploded for three goals –– her second hat trick this season –– and the Lourdes' defense was lights out. Keeper Paige Gallaugher racked up nine saves and the Eagles' defense earned their fifth shutout in six games.
"Amelia Gossman is having a terrific year," Lourdes coach Sarah Groven said. "She is at the right place at the right time, but more importantly, her shot placement has been excellent."
Lourdes improved to 6-0 on the season.
"We played better in the second half, we settled down, made smarter passes and played with more confidence," Groven said.
