ALBERT LEA — Aaron Zhao had three goals and one assist and Century blitzed Albert Lea 6-0 in Big Nine Conference action.

The Panthers, now 3-0 in the Big Nine and 4-0 overall, led 5-0 at halftime.

Christian Borman, Noah Oachs and Rivaldo Pena also each scored for Century.

“Christian Borman scored his first goal of the season and pressured up front throughout the game,” Century coach Hal Houghton said. “Sohum Joshi and Harrison Amorim moved the ball well. Rivaldo Pena started off the scoring with a solid shot from the 18. Xander Galardy had his best game so far with two assists and numerous crosses. John Ruff, Jameson Bargfrede and Austin Crane all contributed to the victory, and Charlie Odell and Jack Bauman kept the net clean in goal.”

Mankato West scored once in overtime and beat Mayo 2-1 in Big Nine Conference play.

“We controlled long stretches in the game, especially in the second half, but struggled to create things offensively, looking a bit flat and feeling a bit injured after our game on Tuesday,” Mayo coach Tim Jennings said. “The last pass didn't quite get through, but we did finish with 11 shots on goal.”

Timothy Persons had the Spartans’ lone goal.

Faribault 4, John Marshall 3, OT

FARIBAULT — Faribault won a wild one against John Marshall, twice in overtime to prevail 4-3.

Ethan Mueller had two goals for the Rockets and Jon McBroom scored once. JM had a penalty kick later in regulation that missed.

The teams were tied 1-all at halftime and then 3-3 heading into overtime. Camdon Williams finished with seven saves for the Rockets.

“It was a great game for both teams as it came down to who had the luck of the game after all that hard work,” JM coach Abdul Noor said.
