Century 2, Mayo 1

Century got a momentum-changing goal just before halftime by Penelopea Gordon and it helped push the No. 4-seeded Panthers to a 2-1 win over No. 5 seed Mayo.

Gordon had taken a pass from Jordan Nowicki, then drove it into the net. That tied the score at 1-all.

“We (Century) didn't have our best half and Mayo was playing well,” Century coach Karen LaDue said. “We knew we needed to settle down and focus on quick passes and working together. In the second half, we played better, but we couldn't connect for a goal. With 5 minutes remaining, Addie Clarey sent a ball over to Baker for a goal that would be called off. With under 3 minutes to go, Baker took a corner kick and the ball would be knocked around a bit before Jordan Nowicki would get a head on it for the goal.”
