John Marshall staged a big comeback and snuck off with a 3-2 win over Mounds View in the Lourdes Invitational softball tournament.
JM trailed 2-0 going into the fifth inning. It proceeded to score one run in the bottom of that frame, then two more in the seventh for the winning margin.
JM trailed 2-1 in the seventh and had two out when Nicole Ward doubled to deep right-center. Megan Karp followed that with a double to tie it, before Nicole Stokes hit an RBI single for the win.
Taryn Adams got the complete-game win and the JM defense made a number of big plays, including a double play in the fourth inning.
"It was a great softball game," JM coach Thang Nguyen said. "We made some mistakes, but more importantly we made strong plays to work out of some jams. Both teams played at a high level which made for an entertaining game."
