Softball | John Marshall keeps rolling, shuts out Albert Lea
ALBERT LEA — John Marshall's Emma Bartholomew tossed a four-hitter for her second shutout of the season as the Rockets blanked Albert Lea 10-0.
"Emma got more effective as the game went on, and she was helped by a clean defensive effort," JM coach Thang Nguyen said. "Our pitching and fielding were solid, with no errors once again. Any road win is a good win."
The Rockets got on the board in the second inning as Gina Pula doubled and scored on a single from Olivia Evans.
In the second, Megan Karp walked, advanced to third on a bunt from Becca Herzog, then scored on a sacrifice bunt from Grace Freed. Seven players had hits for JM, which remains undefeated at 6-0 for the season.
JM will play three non-conference games this Saturday in the Lourdes tournament. The Rockets open play against Stewartville at 9 a.m.
