OWATONNA — Mayo showed plenty of fight on Thursday night, as it bounced back from a two-run deficit to beat Owatonna 4-2 in Big Nine Conference softball.
Mayo allowed singled runs in the second and third innings. But then it came through with two of its own in the fifth and one each in the sixth and seventh.
Jady Koestering worked all seven innings for Mayo, getting the pitching win. She allowed just five hits and struck out six. No Mayo player had more than one hit.
"I am proud of our softball team," Spartans coach Steve Lewison said. "After falling behind 2-0, they were resilient and kept battling back for a tough 4-2 win. Glad to see our defense was able to help Jadyn get her first varsity victory as a pitcher."
