ZUMBROTA — Three Zumbrota-Mazeppa belted three home runs and didn't allow a run en route to a 9-0 victory against Rochester Lourdes in the opening round of the West Subsection 1AA softball tournament on Tuesday.
Tayler Mort led No. 2-seeded Z-M (16-2) at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, while Morgan Olson was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. Carley Henning also homered and doubled, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs; and Amber Gehrke was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.
Melissa Carlson led Lourdes (10-10), going 2-for-3.
Morgan Olson earned the victory. She pitched five innings, allowed five hits, one walk and struck out two batters. Karrie Virgin suffered the loss for Lourdes, allowing seven earned runs in six innings.
Z-M will play host to a subsection semifinal game at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
