STEWARTVILLE — A record field of 22 schools will compete Thursday in the 37th annual Stewartville Invitational cross country meet.
The event, at Bear Creek Park, begins at 4 p.m. with junior high races. Girls varsity will be at approximately 4:40 and boys varsity at about 5:10.
Last year's individual champions — Emi Trost of Cannon Falls and Matt Schrup of Winona Cotter — return, as does defending boys team champion Cotter. The 2011 girls champion Dover-Eyota/St. Charles has split into separate programs and they will be among the participating teams.
Others are the host team, Byron, Schaeffer Academy, Medford, Cannon Falls, Pine Island, Lake city, Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson, Lanesboro, Kingsland, Kasson-Mantorville, GMLOS, Chatfield, Rochester Area Home School, Blooming Prairie, Onalaska (Wis.) Luther, Bangor (Wis.), Hayfield, NRHEG, ZM/KW, Wabasha-Kellogg, La Crescent, and Lyle/Pacelli.
