Thorson qualifies for state boys golf meet; girls golfers end season

HASTINGS — Alex Thorson picked a good time to fire his best round of the year.

The Austin junior shot a 75 on Monday for a two-day total of 153 and most important, a score good enough to advance him to next week's Class AAA state tournament.

Thorson shot his 75 at the Section One, Class AAA meet at Bellwood Oaks Golf Club in Hastings.

Austin sophomore Isaac Christianson shot an 87 Monday for a two-day total of 171. He did not qualify for state.

Rochester Century rallied to win the section team championship.

The state tournament begins Tuesday at Bunker Hill Golf Course in Coon Rapids.

Austin girls finish season

CANNON FALLS – The Austin girls golf team wrapped up its season at the Section 1AAA meet in Cannon Falls without any state qualifiers Monday at the Cannon Golf Club.

Austin junior Lauren Stasi led the Packers with a 94 and 36-hole total of 192. Steph Justice shot a 102 Monday for a 195 total, Shannon Stutzman finished with 100 and 207 and Kristine Snyder a 112 and 219.
