Thursday walk/run event benefits Salvation Army

A new event, the Moms On The Run 5K Family Gobble Wobble 5K Walk/Run, is a chance for runners to wobble, strut, saunter, amble or sprint to help out The Salvation Army.

The event will be held at Mayo High School on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day morning, for the Lil’ Gobblers 1K Trot at 8:00 a.m., and the 5K Family Gobble Wobble at 8:15 a.m.

The course will follow Bear Creek Trail, beginning near the southeast parking lot of Mayo High School and running along the paved trail.  The Salvation Army will provide water, coffee and hot chocolate to all participants.

There is no a race fee, however, donations will go to support the Salvation Army Thanksgiving dinner serving over 300 people every year in the Rochester community.

Those who cannot participate can go online and register that way, then run or walk before the weekend is up, submit their distance and/or time and be eligible for a prize from area sponsors.
