ST. PAUL — On a day when Section One, Class A produced three champions in the state Class A boys and girls track and field meets at Hamline University, there was also a mix of other strong performances from the Rochester area.
The champs Friday were Rushford-Peterson/Houston's Noah Carlson in the triple jump (48 feet, 4 inches), Kenyon-Wanamingo's Mara Quam in the long jump (17-7) and Zumbrota-Mazeppa's Maddie Lindhart in the discus (130-0).
Other highlights were produced by Lyle/Pacelli's Sarah Holtz and Plainview-Elgin-Millville's Chloe Holtz, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, in the high jump. Both went 5-4, but Sarah Holtz did it on fewer misses.
Rushford-Peterson/Houston's Ashley Agrimson got a fifth place with her 16-10 long jump.
Among the Rochester-area boys, La Crescent's Zach Emery finished fourth in the 3,200 (9:36.17).

All of today's events will be run as finals. The boys and girls 3,200 was the only running event that was run as a final Friday.
