C.J. Adamson, Jr., sprints, Lourdes: It seems as though Adamson has already been around forever, and she’s just a junior. She also gets better every year. Adamson was second at state in the 200 two years ago and third in the 100. She also ran the anchor leg on Lourdes’ winning 4x100 relay team.

Cross country: Sortland, O'Hare breeze to Section 1A championships

Class A Girls State Track and Field: GMLOKS, Lourdes relays win state titles

Natasha Sortland, So., long distance, Zumbrota-Mazeppa: Sortland was the Section 1A cross country champion this past fall. Sortland finished fourth in the 3,200 at the 2019 state track meet and sixth in the 1,600.

Ashley Veronen, Sr., high jump, hurdles, Lake City: Veronen burst onto the scene as a freshman when she already was clearing 5-feet-4. Look for her to make another leap this year. She is also one of the area’s top hurdlers.

Lilly Meincke, Jr., 400, Lake City: Meincke is a heck of an athlete, also one of the top basketball players in southeastern Minnesota. As an eighth-grader, she ran a 59.36 400.

Jaci Winchell, Sr., jumps, Cannon Falls: Winchell was one of the top triple jumpers in the area as a sophomore, finishing second in the Section 1A meet with a 34-6 3/4 clearance. She went 34-8 3/4 at state, landing eighth.
