AUSTIN — Shayley Vesel scored a career-high 25 points as Austin edged Mankato East 57-54 in Ove Berven Gym Saturday.
Vesel, a 5-foot-8 sophomore forward, also grabbed five rebounds.
The Packers made 9 of 12 free throws in the final minutes to protect their small lead. They led 27-25 at halftime.
Austin is now 7-12 overall and 5-9 in the Big Nine with Saturday's win that made it three victories in the last five games. East is now 10-11 overall, 7-8 Big Nine.
Mer Gach added 11 points.
