Volleyball | Century serves up sweep against JM
Century brought a strong serving game and knocked out John Marshall in three games in a Big Nine Conference volleyball match Thursday night at Century's gym.
The Panthers evened the conference record at 3-3 with a sweep, winning 25-11, 25-16, 25-14. Century is 14-6 overall, while JM dipped to 5-11 and 1-6 in the conference with its second loss this week.
"Over all, we played a really great match tonight," Century coach Abby Barrone said. "Our serving was phenomenal; as a team, we had 11 aces."
Morgan Hazelton led Century with nine kills and Hannah Weidmann had 10 digs. For JM, Nicole Fautsch led with 14 kills.
"Along with our strong serving, our defense was aggressive which allowed us run a strong attack against JM," Barrone added. "Our seniors stepped up big on Senior Night, which was a big part of our win tonight.
JM has a non-conference match Monday at Stewartville, and the Panthers are home Tuesday against Mankato East. Century is at Albert Lea on Tuesday.
