APPLE VALLEY — Rochester John Marshall finished 2-2 in the Apple Valley Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, as it rode big days from Nicole Fautsch and Abol Barnaba.
JM beat Bloomington Jefferson 25-18, 25-23 and Wabasha-Kellogg 16-25, 25-9, 15-9. It lost to Eden Prairie 25-13, 25-11 and Minneota 25-18, 25-18.
Fautsch totaled 30 kills, 28 digs, three blocks and five services aces in the four matches. Barnaba had 14 kills, 11 digs, eight blocks and three aces. Kalli Fautsch added 10 kills, 27 assists, 16 digs, eight blocks and two aces.
Apple Valley is ranked No. 1 in state Class AAA, and Minneota No. 5 in Class A.
"It was a pretty good weekend for the Rockets getting some good competition in and learning how to play with the big (dominant) schools," JM coach Jessica Stellmaker said. "With the tough schedule we have, our 10-10 (overall) record doesn't really show much but hopefully playing the tough non-conference and tournament schedule will do us well when it comes to sections and have us well prepared."
