Kenyon-Wanamingo showed why it's the No. 1 ranked volleyball team in Class AA on Thursday night in Rochester with a sweep over Lourdes.
K-W (27-1) ran its winning streak to 14 matches at the Lourdes gym with its fifth straight 3-0 win. Lourdes (13-8) had a three-game win streak snapped. K-W is 10-0 in the HVL and Lourdes is 4-6, with one conference match remaining for both.
"Every night in the HVL is a challenging night; facing the top ranked team in 2A makes it even harder," said Lourdes coach Ryan Friedhoff. "K-W did a great job of doing whatever they wanted to, whenever they wanted to."
Mara Quam made 14 kills, Kasey Dummer had 19 digs, and Mia Peterson had 25 assists for the Knights. For Lourdes, Alison Kielty had five kills, and Brooke Younger made 12 digs.
"We struggled in all aspects and that is a testament to them being a great team," Friedhoff added. "Hopefully we can put tonight behind us and get ready to face Lake City (on Tuesday)."
