MANKATO — Mayo ran its Big Nine Conference record to 5-1 with a 3-1 win over Mankato West in volleyball on Tuesday.
The Spartans posted a 25-9, 21-25, 25-20, 25-15 victory.
"West has some good hitters that we struggled to defend at times tonight," Mayo coach Deb Frederick said. "We came out of the first set playing well and than all of the sudden we lost our momentum and they beat us set two."
Anna Winter led Mayo with 10 kills and Ashlee Halstead added nine. Nora Holtan added a solid all-around match with 22 set assists, seven kills and seven ace serves.
"Tonight's match was full of unforced errors for us," Frederick said. "Every player at one point had missed opportunities to score. These are the nights when a win is a win."
