Stewartville got off to a winning start Thursday, doing it in dominant fashion against non-conference volleyball foe John Marshall.
The Tigers swept the Rockets, winning 25-13, 25-21, 25-13.
JM was paced by Katilyn Steffes with 13 kills and five digs. Chayse Paulson added 21 assists, nine digs and three ace serves.
Stewartville got 17 kills and three blocks from Erin Lamb. Jaidyn Brower had 20 assists and three aces.
Rockets coach Jessica Stellmaker was upbeat despite the loss.

"Stewartville is a great team with some talented athletes," Stellmaker said. "It is always fun to play them. They make us strive to be better. We have great team chemistry and great attitudes. We looked really good at times — this will only get better. So fun to play!"
