Rochester John Marshall stuck with Mayo early during Thursday night's annual All-City triangular at Century High School.
But the Spartans dominated the heavier weights, pulling away for a 51-15 victory over the Rockets and earning the All-City title.
Mayo topped Century in its first dual of the night, 62-12. The Rockets knocked off Century 61-15 in the second dual.
JM trailed just 21-15 after the 160-pound match. But the Spartans won the dual's final five matches — Sam Hinsch (170), Tyler Bidwell (182), Loren Lorang (195), Zach Lorang (220) and Jason Callanan (285) — to pull away.
"We came out flat tonight and didn't wrestle up to our capability," JM coach Brian Parlin said. "We've been in a slump as a team and need to find a way to turn things around before the post-season."

Mayo coach Art Trimble was very happy with his team's performance.
"We wrestled our style tonight, tough and physical with a constant attack," Trimble said. "Our lighter guys did a great job of keeping the score close and our upper weights took care of business. It has been a tremendous year working with all of the seniors on our team who have dedicated so much time to the sport. They have really increased the intensity of our practice room and brought our other wrestlers up to their level.
"I can't complement them enough on their leadership and focus. ... Tyler Bidwell had a great performance for us stepping into the varsity role again. He has really been developing the past few weeks, and he came up big with two pins for us. Devon Patton was also a huge addition to the varsity lineup at 138, dominating with two pins. We still have some things to work on, but I was very pleased with our performance."
Century coach Steve Larsen has been pleased with his team's progress this season. The young Panthers are getting closer to being competitive in the Big Nine Conference, and Larsen believes his team can run with the city schools next season.
"We're still just too young to stick with them right now," he said. "We're building for next year. Our lower weights are decent now and getting better. I think both of those teams we wrestled tonight have seven seniors, and we don't have any."
