This is the way Steve Hucke wanted to see Rochester Community and Technical College bounce back from an underwhelming performance.
After a turnover-plagued loss to Mesabi Range on Friday, RCTC was on its game from the opening tipoff in its 85-16 victory against Vermilion Community College on Saturday at the UCR Regional Sports Center.
Vermilion had just seven players on its roster and, after two suffered injuries, played with just five in the second half. The second half was played on running time.
"It was a much better performance by our team from a mental standpoint," RCTC coach Hucke said. "I'm proud of the effort the girls put in. These games are sometimes tougher to play in than close games."
Alycia Courson led a balanced Yellowjackets attack with 11 points. Lane Gehl added 10 points and six steals. Taige Thoreson and Aly Meyer also had 10 points each. Cortney Kasten added eight points and two steals, and Jacey Anderson had four points and five assists.

RCTC shot 48 percent from the floor and outrebounded Vermilion 41-29. The Yellowjackets had 47 points off turnovers, 28 steals and 20 assists.
"All in all, we played a better ballgame than we did against Mesabi," Hucke said.
RCTC plays host to Madison Area Technical College at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
