• Young, a sophomore captain for the Blue Devils, hit .407 last season and also batted for over a .300 average on the recent spring training trip to Florida.
• Power is a big part of his offensive arsenal with 12 home runs last season. Led the Blue Devils to their second straight appearance in the Junior College World Series in 2010.
• After his banner freshman campaign with Riverland was named to the all-conference and all-region teams. Played high school ball in Forest Lake and was on the Lions State All-Star team.
• Showed solid defensive skills manning the hot corner at third base during his first season for the Blue Devils. Also played during the summer months with the amateur Austin Blue Sox. This allowed him to display his diamond skills at both Seltz Field and Marcusen Park.

• Started the season with a pair of hits in the opening doubleheader at Walt Fuller Stadium in St. Petersburg. Scored a run in the team's first win of the season over Waubonsee College of Illinois.
• Hammered the ball in a doubleheader sweep over the Oakville Royals of Ontario. Collected three hits, including a triple and double in the first game. Then went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and run scored in the late game.
• Continued his torrid pace in the Florida sun with two hits in a win over the Ontario Terriers. It was another fine statistical line with a walk, double, and two runs scored to highlight the southern trip.
