The Minnesota State Patrol reported that driver Katrina Rose Lipp, 19, of Brainerd, and passenger Tiffanie Amber Rivera, 21, of Blackduck, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Christopher Jerome Endicott, 53, who was sentenced in 2019 to eight years in prison for identity theft, stalking and burglary, was found unresponsive in his cell in the Brainerd jail. Lifesaving measures were unsuccessful.
Gov. Tim Walz said the care center would be able to take 34 patients at a time to relieve the burden on central and northern Minnesota's hospitals.
