While there are plenty of dogs and cats in Southeast Minnesota waiting for forever homes, shelter and rescue staff recommend against surprising a loved one with a new pet for Christmas.
A great motivator, in the form of a golden-furred dog with soulful brown eyes and a goofy grin on her face, encourages me to walk outdoors on even the most brutal winter days.
