Ava Gustafson places third in state for Mayo in the 100 breaststroke while Natalie Boorjian had a top-eight finish in both the 50 and 500 freestyle events.
Mayo junior Natalie Boorjian and senior Ava Gustafson both finished in the top eight of the preliminary round of the Class AA girls state swimming and diving finals on Friday and advanced to Saturday's championship round.
Mayo junior Abigail Wigle has qualified for the final round of the Class AA girls swimming and diving state meet. Wigle will compete in the diving championship round on Saturday.
The girls swimming and diving state meet was not held a year ago due to COVID. This season the meet returns and Rochester has plenty of Class AA state qualifiers. The event will be held Thursday-Saturday at the University of Minnesota.
Century had swimmers earn state berths in nine of 11 events during the Section 1AA finals on Friday. Mayo had swimmers earn state berths in six events, plus had a diver earn a state berth, while JM had one swimmer advance.
