Andrew Thomas Ress, 31, of Rochester, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019.

Andrew was born Dec. 24, 1987, in Mankato to Thomas and Lisa (Wenthold) Ress. He graduated from Byron High School in 2006. He went on to attend St. Cloud State University for three years and then the Minneapolis Institute of Art for a semester. Andrew then graduated from the Rochester Technical College automotive program in 2013 with honors. He worked at Cinemagic Theaters for 11 years, before working at Goodyear Tire. In 2015, he became an automotive mechanic at Midas in Rochester.

Andrew always had the best fashion, hairstyles and beard. He was a loving and passionate individual. He had a kind and tender heart and was loved by everyone around him. His infectious laugh and smile will be deeply missed.

Andrew loved movies, photography, all animals, his cat, ZZ, spicy food, sour candy, Red Wing Shoes, thick denim jeans, whiskey, craft beer, breweries and biking.

Andrew is survived by his parents, Tom and Lisa Ress of Byron; sister, Kaitlyn (Luke) Dalchow of St. Paul; brother, Ronald (Bridget) Ress of Rochester; grandmother, Mary Ress of Rochester; grandparents, Ruth and Norvel Sheldon of Stewartville; and his beloved cat, ZZ. He is preceded in death by grandfathers, Ronald Ress of Rochester, and Daryl Wenthold of Evansdale, Iowa; and uncle, Steven Wenthold of Eyota.

The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Byron Funeral Home. The celebration of life service will immediately follow at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
