Arlin C. “Arly” Trelstad, age 81, of Zumbrota, formerly of Orr, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester — Saint Marys Campus surrounded by his family.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at Stordahl Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathleen Lowery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home — Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Arlin Carrol Trelstad was born on Jan. 3, 1938, in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, to Arnold and Lillian (Ellefson) Trelstad. Arly grew up on the farm and attended Bringgold Country School. He graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1956 and started working as a milk hauler. On June 22, 1957, he married Marilyn J. Brekke. Arly also worked at the Wanamingo Elevator and spent many years as an over-the-road trucker. Arly enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, playing cards with his buddies and spending time with his family.
Arly is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn “Brekke”; son, Donald (Rebekka) Trelstad of Gladstone, N.J.; daughters, Debbie (Tom) Hinz of Zumbrota and Lisa (Dick) Braid of Lake City; grandchildren, Jeremy (Christine) Hinz, Aaron (Amy) Hinz, Phillip (Jenny) Trelstad, Stephanie (David) Jones, Jason (Jenny) Trelstad, Alyssa Trelstad, Zach (Erin) Braid, Gabrielle Trelstad and Nicholas Trelstad; 13 great-grandchildren; uncle, Vernon (Eileen) Trelstad of Pine Island; and his beloved dog, Sadie III.
Arly was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Lillian; brother, Larry; and his loving pets, Sadie I, Sadie II, Josie and Joe.
