Betty Lucille Derby, 93, passed away Oct. 1, 2019, surrounded by family and friends at the home of her friends, Bob and Linda Holt, of Byron. Betty was born on Aug. 4, 1926, in Albert Lea to Faville and Ella Barneck. She was one of six children.

Betty was married to Robert Underhill of Austin. Together they had four children, Larry, Robert, John and Janice (Richards). Robert died in 1978. In 2001, she married Stanley Derby.

Betty was a very caring lady, as well as a wonderful mother and friend. Her greatest loves were her family, friends and the Lord. She helped all people, especially those she knew and loved. The church was a very important part of Betty's life. She took great pride in keeping the church clean and enjoyed time spent with the women of the church and participating in their projects. She often stated that she loved her children more than could be said in words.

Betty is survived by sons, Larry and John (Megan) Underhill; stepson, Randy (Sharon) Derby; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Underhill and Stanley Derby; son, Robert Underhill; daughter, Janice Richards; and stepdaughter, Pam (Derby) Wallace.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the First Presbyterian Church, 101 Sixth Ave. NW, Kasson, with Pastor Carl Grosse officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Austin, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to them for distribution according to their wishes.
