Braxton J. Raymond, age 22, of Kasson, passed away from complications of brain cancer on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. He was at home and surrounded by his family.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14 at the First Presbyterian Church, 512 Third St. SW, Rochester. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13 at Home Federal Arena in the Kasson-Mantorville High School, 101 16th St. NE, Kasson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be in the form of checks made out to "Braxton Raymond Memorial Fund" to fund future scholarships for St. Peter and Kasson-Mantorville high schools and other organizations that Braxton was connected to, such as Shriner's Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.
Braxton John Raymond was born in Menomonie, Wis., on May 23, 1997, to Kelly and Cyndi (TenKley) Raymond. He attended St. Peter High School in St. Peter before moving to Kasson and graduating from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 2016. Braxton was a stand-out athlete and graduated as KM's all team leading scorer in boy's basketball. He attended Williston State College in Williston, N.D., where he was a member of the men's basketball team prior to his diagnosis. Basketball was a huge part of Braxton's life. He loved playing, coaching youth camps, and watching NBA games. He was also a fan of WWE wrestling and loved hanging out with friends.
Braxton is survived by his father, Kelly Raymond of Kasson; his mother, Cyndi Raymond (Sonny Smith) of Miramar Beach, Fla.; his brother, Brodie Raymond of Minneapolis; his sister, Tailor (Tony) Hofman of Rochester; his grandparents, Russ Raymond of Duluth, and Doug and Jo TenKley of Stewartville, and Louise Smith of Miramar Beach, Fla.
Braxton was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret Raymond (Duluth).
