David E. “Dave” Kell, 62, of Rochester, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at Seasons Hospice after battling Lymphoma.

Dave was born Nov. 9, 1956, in Canton, Ohio, to Ernest and Doris (Shive) Kell.

He graduated from Lehman High School in 1974 and Kent State University in 1978. He was a computer programmer at Mayo Clinic for 15 years and previously REVCO in Ohio.

Dave never married. Survivors include his mother, Doris Kell of Rochester; his sister, Ruth (Curt) Milton of Sykesville, Md.; his nephew, Jonathan (Jessica) Milton of Raleigh, N.C.; his niece, Rebecca (Matthew) Henderson of Triangle, Va.; his uncles, cousins and many friends.

Dave was a member of Hope Summit Christian Church, where he was an elder, trustee, children’s Sunday school teacher and adult small group leader. Many loved his sense of humor and gentle ways. He was the epitome of Christ’s faithful servant.

He was a Boy Scout and a member of Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed traveling the U.S., playing and watching sports, Bible study and helping people.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Hope Summit Christian Church in Rochester, with Pastor Jeff Matteson officiating. Visitation will be held one half hour previous.

His request: memorials be given to Hope Summit Christian Church, Rochester; First Christian Church, Canton, Ohio; or NAMI, Rochester.
