The Funeral Mass for David Van Houten will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at The Church of St. John the Evangelist, 11 Fourth Avenue S.W. in Rochester, with Father John Lasuba officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, West Albany in rural Millville.
Mr. Van Houten, 61, of rural Rochester, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 12, 2011, at his home after he lost a 10 year battle with cancer.
David Eugene Van Houten was born July 29, 1950, in Red Wing, to Donald and Lorraine (Rademacher) Van Houten, Sr. He attended Millville Elementary School, and graduated in 1970 from Lincoln High School in Lake City. David lived in West Albany, Plainview, and Jarretts, and in Rochester since 1994. On July 26, 1997, he married Laura Fiaschi in Rochester. David was employed at JEC Company in Janesville for 37 years retiring in 2007.
He was member of The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Rochester.
David is survived by his wife, Laura Van Houten of Rochester; two daughters, Jodie (Scott) Gobel of Portland, Ore., and Caterina Van Houten of Rochester; two step-daughters, Camilla (Joshua Duerr) Angelici and Candida Angelici both of Rochester; four grandchildren, Brad, Blake and Cooper Gobel and Luca Duerr; four brothers, Donald (Delores) Van Houten, Jr. of Elgin, Leonard (Helen) Van Houten of Millville, Duane Van Houten of Zumbro Falls and Larry (Peggy) Van Houten of Lake City; and one sister, Diane (Terry) Holst of Millville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family may visit from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, and a half hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
