On Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, Dorothy Torgerson, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, died at the age of 96 at Traditions in Harmony.
Dorothy Elizabeth Matson was born on Nov. 12, 1922, to Martin and Gena (Larsud) Matson. She was joined in marriage to Lester Torgerson on May 24, 1942, at the Lutheran parsonage in Harmony.
After WWII, they made their home in Harmony and together raised a family, and a successful business, Torgerson's Floor Covering. Lester and Dorothy enjoyed traveling to many destinations and spent many days at their cabin with family and friends. She was known for her great cooking and would share her famous sweet rolls with everyone near her. Dorothy was a member of Greenfield Lutheran Church, Miriam circle and President of Greenfield Lutheran Ladies Aid. She was also a member of Eastern Star.
She is survived by three daughters and three sons, Diane (Lee) Bigalk, Larry (Marge), Dennis (Janell), Brad (Barb), Michelle (Orson) Guttormson and Karen James (fiancé Al Scheiller); 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; eight brothers, Garfield, Arnold, Bernard, Victor, Donald, Walter, Martin and Leland Matson; and a grandson, LuVerne Torgerson.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Greenfield Lutheran Church; friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony is assisting the family.
