Gerald “Jerry” “Red” D. Aaby passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Edenbrook Nursing Home.

Jerry was born April 2, 1934, in Rochester, to Leo and Mabel (White) Aaby. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. He married Janice Paulson, and they were later divorced. He worked as a heavy equipment operator.

He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, watching westerns, and collecting construction toys. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club, American Legion, and the Local 49 Union.

Jerry is survived by his children, Susan (Sam) Young of Inver Grove Heights, Curtis (Sharon) Aaby of Rochester, Cathy (Bob) Patkoff of Mendota Heights, and Julie (David) Johnson of Elk River; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Barb Berg of Rochester, Donald Aaby of St. Louis, and Orrin Peck of Rochester.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Bonnie Kachelski.

Burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester will be held at a later date.
