John Preston Moe was born on May 26, 1942, in Rochester. Following a brief illness, he passed away peacefully on June 10, 2019, surrounded by loving family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Josephine (Preston) Moe; and his wife, Mary Lee Paris. He is survived by daughters, Melissa (Dan) Becken, Prior Lake, and Jennifer Moe, Minneapolis; grandchildren, Aidan and Ellen Becken; sister, Louise Moe, Rochester; and former wife, Mary Ellen Moe, St. Louis Park. He is also survived by stepdaughters, Paula (Jon) Tisch, Huntsville, Ala., and Kristin Husom, Shakopee; grandchildren, Stephen (Kelsey), Adam (Kelsey), Sawyer and Colton Tisch, Preston and Sidney Husom; and great-granddaughter, Nora Tisch.

John attended Cornell University in New York and graduated with an MBA from the University of Minnesota. He was a dedicated supporter of the Minnesota Gophers football and basketball teams. He had a long and successful career in the field of human resources, most notably with Control Data Corporation, where he worked for many years.

In retirement, John rarely missed an opportunity to attend a soccer, hockey or baseball game, dance competition or any other event in which of his grandchildren were participating. He also enjoyed his biking group rides, weekly dinners with Jenny, and get togethers with his many friends. He especially loved family celebrations and champagne toasts. John gave of his time unselfishly to assist those who needed his help. His presence in the lives of those he touched will forever be missed.

An open house celebration of John’s life will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 28, at The Wilds in Prior Lake. Memorials preferred to a charity of the donor’s choice.

To live forever in the hearts of those who are left behind, is not to die.
